anticipating an addition...

I didn't know how to categorize this post- maternity, couples, family- so I did all three.  This couple is expecting their second child 9 years after their first.  The beautiful mother is not a first-time mom, but there was something in her eyes where the anticipation was as if this was her first.  And maybe time does that- renews first feelings.  So as this was considered a maternity session- I left photographing an expecting family, an expecting couple and an expecting mother and her beautiful belly.  It was so much fun!  The arrival of a baby is anticipated by the whole family and everyone should be photographed.  Family enjoys sharing in every milestone together- even if one member needs to carry the extra belly by themself.  I couldn't believe this expecting mom- she is 8 months along and sported high heels.  I was impressed.  Congrats family!

Amanda and Brian : WEDDING

I assisted the fabulous Libby Lewis at this wedding held at the Hollywood Schoolhouse in Woodinville.  The couple had fun touches such as a Polaroid camera at guest table and candy bar with to-go bags for any late night sweet tooth after the wedding.  And the cake- oh my- that was a pretty cake!

Newlyweds at any age...

Being in love is magical whether just recently married or celebrating your 30th anniversary like these lovebirds!

Jaime and Tyler : WEDDING

Jaime, Tyler and their family put so many handmade creative details into this wedding - it was a photographer's eye candy store!  I could probably post three blogs with pictures of the fun things at this wedding.  I drooled over the thoughtful, handmade touches such as tree trunk centerpieces (cut by groom), fabric pennant streamers (made by mother-of-bride and will be turned into a picnic blanket for newlyweds), quilt squares for guests to write wishes to bride and groom, step stool (made by bride's grandfather and used for couples first kiss since groom is so much taller than bride), photo booth (built by groom and his dad) and wildflower assortment centerpieces (made by bride)!  Oh and they had giant bubble wands for the kiddos and croquet for the kiddos at heart.  To top it off - live music by bride's uncle and his band.  I love live music at garden weddings.  Such a great afternoon.

Ted and Brenda : WEDDING

Ted and Brenda had a wonderful wedding in Ted's sister's backyard.  Brenda had such a great attitude about the rain- she just put on some rain boots and enjoyed her day!  The rain couldn't damper the warmth felt between these two.  I was soaked by the end of the day - but so worth it! I love weddings!

Ryan and Kerrie

Kerrie (an amazing landscape photographer) and husband Ryan have been married 8 years.  This session reminded me of a newlywed session.  They were playful, flirty and obviously in love with one another.  They inspired me to every year get photos of my husband and myself.

Thank you, Blaire, for mentoring me during this session!

BABY D

This little sweetie, her loving mommy and daddy and very adorable doggie make up such a cute Seattle family.   When Baby D got a bit fussy, we ventured out into the fresh air and to the beach.  That is the best tip for parents trying to stop their baby from crying (especially when you need a good picture)!  Take them outside!  They love the fresh air!

Okay, so the family had this trunk passed down to them.  I just imagined the travels this trunk had under its leather clasps.  I had to have some fun and try to create an old-fashioned picture with Baby D.  Maybe this is what her great-great grandmother looked like.

Baby P : 3 months old

This is my nephew Baby 'P' at his second photo shoot with me. The last time I photographed him he was barely 2 weeks old. This time around he was lots more active and completely disinterested in being photographed. He preferred his socks to smiling. Finally mommy stepped behind me and he gave a big drooly grin towards the camera- thank heaven for mommies.

Of course my youngest daughter had to investigate her cousin.  They have almost the same color hair amongst other similar features.  I love genetics!

Mom and Me

I had the pleasure to photograph a family friend and her son while visiting my husband's hometown. I love sharing time with the two of them. He is growing up so fast- becoming quite a young man already. But he is still a little boy; still able to 'bear kiss' his mother's nose; still able to 'zerbert' her neck; still able to wrap his little arms around her tight. My hope is someday he will be looking at these pictures and see how much his mom loves him; how their family is beautiful and he'll smile and say to himself, 'that is mom and me.'

BABY K

At a wedding gig, I noticed this beautiful newborn (6 wks) among other beautiful children. When I am away from my two little girls for the day, I can't help but get a baby fix. I offered some pics during an itsy-bitsy lull in the fast-paced day. Baby K is beautiful, her brother adorable and both make her parents obviously happy. What a cute little family.

How cute is this little curl!

Batina & Jonathan : WEDDING

Batina and Jonathan enjoyed their big day at the Grand Holiday Ballroom in Olympia.  Some of my favorite things from this wedding were Batina's veil, the limo ride with a great bridal party and the best speech EVER from the groom's grandfather.  He told Batina that Jonathan should have the last word in every argument...then he turned to Jonathan and said, "And your last word is yes, dear."  I giggled the whole night over that one.

Both sides of the family were awesome and full of fun!  There were some pretty smooth moves on the dance floor - I even had to take a break to dance (it was a Michael Jackson track- nobody should wallflower during a MJ song!)

First shots at the bar!
